DeCordova Museum Branding
To pay homage to the modernist artwork that deCordova showcases, we created a word mark that reflects the museum’s contemporary identity. Shortening the logo from deCordova to the letters de was the first step. With a shorter, simplified tagline, the museum gains an air of simplicity and playfulness. This decision allows the deCordova brand to fit alongside other modern art museums like the MoMA and the Whitney. The use of a modern typeface was twofold, as we wanted to play to the strengths of deCordova’s collection. The typeface Futura was the perfect fit.
